Iranian MP, Parviz Sarvari says “terrorist groups” are responsible for the explosion of gas pipelines in Qom.

Sarvari told Mehr news agency that the ministry of intelligence and the police must beef up security at energy pipelines. He said terrorist groups are trying to create insecurity by disrupting the country’s energy-transportation system.

He added that parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission is reviewing pipeline security in conjunction with oil and intelligence ministries as well as security forces.

Three gas pipelines exploded in Qom province on Friday. A similar explosion occurred in Qom on February 11.

Another Iranian MP, Alireza Salimi, has raised the possibility that the two explosions were linked and perhaps carried out by the same group. So far no organization has taken responsibility for the explosions.
